ChiWhoBike #38
I was involved in a nighttime biking accident, and I could have done better, probably, in making myself safer. I don’t know if I was hit, or if I fell, or whatever the case may be. But I did unfortunately wake up in the emergency room, and I was able to recover quickly and thankfully, I got lucky. It’s really made me count my blessings, pay attention, and be a little bit more safe and try not to bike at night as much. And if I am biking, just making sure that I’m bringing out lights and flashers for my bike I purchased, just so that way I can kind of make my presence known.
But yeah I mean it’s terrifying, right? Like I remember after that biking accident, getting back on the bike, that was probably the longest stretch of time I was off. Albeit it was maybe two months where I wasn’t on a bike, but it definitely took a lot of confidence to get back on the bike and feel safe and feel natural.
We were chatting about this hat here. I mean biking is a great way to do a lot of good things, right? It’s good for the climate, it’s good for your health, mental and physical. And it’s just a good way to stimulate yourself and get out there and take in the world. I mean it’s a beautiful city that we live in and we’re blessed. So I would encourage everyone to get out there. It’s never a bad choice to go for a bike ride and spend a day just out riding. You’re gonna meet great new friends or just have a good time to yourself to just think and take in the city. I love it. And yeah, everybody get out there and ride.
